As seen on Gucci AW 12 catwalk, the riding boot is now everywhere on the highstreet! But don’t worry, you don’t need a polo club membership, or to be bessy mates with Kate Middleton to wear this trend…not that I’d say no, mind you. 😉
Riding boots can be edgy, worn with a studded leather jacket and dark distressed denim. Or you can go simple and wear with chunky knits, scarves, tartan, and chunky socks that peek over the boots.
I’ve only seen a few nice pairs on the highstreet, places like River Island and Topshop etc, and then after that there were only the high end designers like Gucci. So my little tip is to get your boots from an actual saddlery websight like thetackroom.ie based in Galway, they look the exact same as the Gucci ones and because they are essentially sportswear, they are much more hard wearing. They are also cheaper, say 30 euro to 150 for a well made, genuine leather pair, because you aren’t paying for all the extras that come with designer items, and because the leisure horse riding industry is one of the worst hit by the ressession, so they are going at very reasonable prices, because noone is buying.
Clockwise from Left pricing in Euro: Gucci 1150; River Island 100; thetackroom.ie 130; the tackroom.ie 30; Gucci 1350.
